Inbound and Outbound Number Formats

2 min readVoice

By default, the Atomic platform handles all outgoing and incoming calls using the E.164 (eg. 61283176200) numbering format. However, you can change this setting:-

  1. on an Account level for Outgoing Calls
  2. on a DID/number level for Incoming Calls

You can also set the default outgoing format in your settings. Profile > Settings > Default Dial Format

Outgoing Calls

The platform allows users to select what the dial format would be for outgoing calls. You can control this settings over at the Account List > Configuration > Dial Format. There is 2 selections:-

E.164 - this would mean that the outbound calls for the Account is expected to be in an E.164 format (eg. 61283176200).
Domestic - this would mean that the outbound calls for the Account is expected to be in a National format (eg. 0283176200).

You can further control how calls are handled by applying a custom script to CLD Translation. More information on this can be found here:-

Incoming Calls

When we pass an incoming call to your switch/PBX/device, both the DID number and the callers CLI is passed to your switch/PBX/device in E.164 format. You can, however, change this on a per DID level.

You can change this format:

  1. when you order a new number
  2. when you port a number across
  3. in the Number Inventory page by clicking on the Manage button

This applies to the callers CLI. By default, this is passed through to you in E.164 format.

Number Format

This applies to the DID number itself and the format that we pass through to you. There are 2 selections:-

E.164 - this would mean that the incoming calls for the DID number is expected to be in an E.164 format (eg. 61283176200).
Domestic - this would mean that the incoming calls for the DID number is expected to be in a National format (eg. 0283176200).
