Data pooling is a product construct that is great for businesses with a large number of mobile subscribers. Subscribers who are enrolled into a data pool can contribute their mobile plan data allowance for use by others in the pool.
This allows businesses to leverage the scale of their user-base, where they may have some low data use subscribers who don’t typically use much or any of their quota, and some higher use subscribers, combining all their quotas for use by everyone in the pool.
Key Conditions
Provisioning a Service
Before you can assign a Service Plan for a new or porting service, or even moving existing mobile services to a data pool, you will need to create a Data Pool group for the customer. To do this on the Atomic portal, navigate to Services > Data Pool.
Click on the Add Data Pool button to add a new Data Pool.
Plan Name - Give a descriptive name for the Data Pool.
Type - Select the type of Data Pool you want to create. This cannot be changed once the Data Pool has been created. The Auto Top-Up option will mean that whenever this Data Pool exhaust it’s data allowance, an additional 10GB will be added to the data pool.
Description - A description about the Data Pool
Notification Email - An email address that will be used to send usage notifications to.
Customer - The customer that this data pool is assigned to.
Once you submit the new Data Pool, it can take anywhere between 5-30 minutes before the Data Pool is created. You will see a label called In Progress. Once this label is gone, only then will you be able to create services under this Data Pool.
Assigning a Limit to a Member
By default, all members in a Data Pool will share the collective data allowance. However, in some cases, you may want to limit a specific user/s to a limit. To do this, navigate to Customer > List All and under the Data Pool column, click on View. Click on View Member for the desired Data Pool and click on Set Limit. You can then set the maximum data allowance that this member is entitled to the pool.
Moving a Member to Another Data Pool
You can only switch members to another Data Pool that is available within the Customer. To do this, navigate to Services > Data Pool > List All and under the Data Pool column, click on View. Click on the three dots for the desired service and click on Switch Data Pool. You can then select the Data Pool you would like to move the member to and when you would like this switch to occur.

You are not able to move a member belonging to Customer A to a Data Pool belonging to Customer B.
